NAVAL MAINTENANCE DIVISION

Engine Overhaul

  • Conduct W5 andW6 major overhaul maintenance schedules
  • Calibration of engine testing to maximum continuous rating
  • Reconditioning and replacement of all marine diesel engine pumps relating to seawater, Lub-oil and Diesel
  • Emergency repair to naval marine diesel engines to OEM level
  • Rechocking and realignment of main engine , gear box and shaft


    • Steel Fabrication Sandock Austral Shipyards fabrication shop has an undercover area of 13440m² which is equipped with:
  • 2 X 30 ton overhead cranes for pre-fabrication work
  • CNC Plasma cutting Machine of plate 10 X 2.5m up to 50mm thickness
  • Bending Press capacity for plate size max for plate size max 4m X 35mm thick
  • 400 ton profile Rolling Machine
  • 150 ton Horizontal Hydraulic Straightening Press
  • On board steelwork associated to ships side plating, tanks, superstructures, cargo hatches and hatch covers


    • Specialized Fabrication
  • Fabrication of Aluminium and stainless steel components
  • Rolling and forming of steel plates with horizontal Plate Rolls 9.2m max length and 30mm max thickness.
  • Renewal and Fabrication of the specified exhaust cooling system for the SA Navy Frigates and SA Navy Offshore Patrol Vessels.
  • Renewal and replacements of the sea water systems connected to the exhausts.
  • Replacement, renewal and calibration of the electro mechanical valves regulation such sea water flow.

    • Mid Life Refurbishment

  • Class certified removal and reinstallation of marine diesel engines
  • Reconditioning and replacing all specialized pipe work relating to the diesel engine.
  • Reconditioning and replacing of electro mechanical valves fequired for optimum propulsion management.
  • Reconditioning and replacing of the sophisticated seawater cooled exhaust systems.
  • Removal and refurbishments of shafts, propellers , stern glands and supporting bracket bearings.

    • Propulsion System Overhaul


  • Removal , refurbishing , rebalancing and reinstallation of propulsion.
  • Reconditioning and renewal of the integrated propulsion management system
  • Overhaul maintenance of the seal box arrangement
  • Overhaul and repair of the Controllable Pitch Propeller Systems.
  • Class Survey and Clearances of Rudder and Stern Seal Arrangement.
